What Is It?
This grant reduces the out-of-pocket expenses that occur during the homebuying process. It can be paired with other non-Virginia Housing grants, making buying a first home even more accessible.

Eligibility Requirements
To receive a Closing Cost Assistance Grant, a homebuyer must:
- Be a first-time homebuyer or repeat buyer purchasing in Areas of Economic Opportunity
- Have a non-bond or bond Rural Housing Service (RHS) or Veterans Affairs (VA) loan from Virginia Housing
- Have a household income within Virginia Housing’s income limits
- Be within Virginia Housing’s sales price / loan limits

How Does It Work?
This grant may be worth up to 2% of your home’s purchase price. Funds may be applied to closing costs, Rural Housing Service (RHS) guarantees or Veterans Affairs (VA) funding fees. And, you never have to pay it back. Having this grant may improve your RHS or VA loan offers.
